It happened by chance, while I was making an omelette. I cracked an egg and, without thinking too much, found myself looking at the shell as if it were porcelain: matte white, fragile, beautiful. I took a piece and pressed it into the fresh resin of an earring. It broke again, into a thousand fragments, but instead of removing them, I left them there. Then I added gold, not to hide the cracks, but to make them stand out, to make them shine. Someone mentioned kintsugi to me: it wasn’t my intention to imitate it, and yet you can see the same idea here—that from something broken, something precious and beautiful can be born. A simple kind of beauty, made of luminous cracks and little accidents that can surprise you more than perfection ever could.
